Does the Phoenix feel the pull of the fire?
As the ashes draw flesh and feathers together
The image of flight has the Phoenix fixed
On the thermals of lust and wonder
Fully engaged he shoots with flames trailing
Straight towards the thermals to scan for his first lover
Looking over the skies he sees a dove and dives
Upon catching the dove he drives home his seed
Then as the dove reaches ecstasy she bursts into flames
As the Phoenix slowly circles his way to the rocks below
The dove just burns away and upon landing
He begins to strip the cooked dove of its tender flesh

I’m glad the dove was cooked.

Always heard that the Phoenix burns and rises…but I like this touch to the story…lust and hunger of the Phoeniz itself..well portrayed and thought of words:)

If he’s just going to get burn out, he should have some fun and food.

the beauty to flight is pressure against all odds, to rise is tough, you have to push real hard so plenty of constraints along the way π xxxxxx

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I did take it beyond the normal scope of imagination but, you never hear how the Phoenix survives and I was feeling sadistic that day.

When I saw ‘Done’ next to your name, I thought it was another title of your poem, a reference to that dove ‘cooked’ or ‘done!’ Then I realized it was actually about the comments submitted π Have a Happy New Year!
