Want a New Drug*

The drug caused a spasm every once in a while
So I did what I was told and turned back the dial
To the original dose, the increase just a trial
Another failed attempt to put in my file

Like making the perfect cocktail for a client
The taste shouldn’t be just pliant
It’s the effects that have to be more reliant
Finding the right combination that needs to be alliant

I’ve seen it work; I know it’s a matter of time
There are more rungs on the ladder I must climb
Or to work down in the ditches full of grime
Facing all the ramifications in the meantime.

  1. Michael, Oh that pull for a new drug, I knew it well but then it went away. Time is all you have to wait on. Another great poem. Peace be with you πŸ™‚

  2. Thank goodness! From a purely medical standpoint I can sympathize 100%. I want a new drug for my MS so that I dno’t have to take shots any more and another new one that fixes all the rest of my diseases so that I don’t have to take 8 different ones, lol! But, thank the good Lord, I won’t complain too much, at least they are all working πŸ™‚

    • Finding out about my half sister dying has brought me down some and the fact they couldn’t find me since April when it happened. We were estranged over a family matter but still it would been better to have found out then. My ex remarried as well so it’s been a little depressing around here.. smiles.. An honest to goodness smile… As the song says, “..spinning wheel has to go round..” Makes no sense to sit in the shit; so onward and upwards…

  8. It can be so frustrating when you keep trying the new treatments and nothing quite works. Good luck and may you find healing.

  9. β€ŽHi… I just read this (the link..see below) I found it well written and thoughtful for us writers..
AND… I love the Anne Lemott quote..
peace to you Michael… may you dance in the hands of Joy.

“In this dark and wounding society, writing can give you the pleasures of the woodpecker, of hollowing out a hole in a tree where you can build your nest and say, “This is my niche, this is where I live now, this is where I belong.” anne lamott…
