Resonating reflections of my voice
Hollow echoes of your name
Lighting candles could have been your choice
In lieu of extinguished flames
Thinking that I can read your mind
As if it’s something I could do
To know your feelings though I’m blind
Still thinking you love me too
Instead of putting false hope in gloves
Only to beat myself in blame
Please allow me God to enjoy my love
So I might smile at the sound of her name

Acceptance is a freedom in itself. I like the lines:
Lighting candles could have been your choice
In lieu of extinguished flames
Thinking that I can read your mind
As if it’s something I could do
To know your feelings though I’m blind
Still thinking you love me too
I know it is half your poem, but these lines were specially good. Nice Job Michael.

Thanks for saying. It’s been a couple weeks or more of taking a break. I have seen you are learning a great deal and am happy for you; maybe sometime I’ll follow your example and learn the different forms. I know I get stuck on form over substance and back again with no happy medium.

I wonder why couples think the other should be able to read their thoughts? I’ve pretty much come to the thinking that being a couple is one of the hardest paths to follow. I wish you well my friend and many smiles. xoxo

I can’t answer that question, but I can say it’s a selfish act on the part of the person who thinks they can read another’s thoughts or to project their own thoughts over the top of someone else. I absolutely agree that it’s the hardest path.

a sweet poem. it brings a feeling of serenity and a smile. the poet simply wants to savor love for what it is and that paves way for beautiful poetry set in simple words but with a deep meaning. a poem we all would love to relate to. keep writing 🙂
