There Was a Simple Man

You become as you are as you breathe
It’s a secret and quiet but you’ll soon see
We come into our being speaking plus
Our words create the mystique around us

Look around and you see that it’s true
How we think of ourselves becomes you
Think of yourself and become a sleuth
Simple is as simple does is the simple truth

The Jackass’s Tale

Some stories he’s told have grown along the way
But what really happened has gone astray
Don’t ask him the truth because he couldn’t say
The lies are so real it’s like it was just yesterday

With others they’re told so many different ways
If you heard it before you’ll know he’s strayed
Ask him the truth and he’d know what to say
But he’ll tell you he’s mixed up even if it was yesterday

A Test for Truth

Whispers of the truth somehow lose their way
People find in enjoyment in changing what they convey
Others can’t genuinely hear what was said
More often I think this is how untruths are spread

When whispers come to you stop them in their tracks
Don’t be part of the problem don’t join the attack
Or tell them to speak up so all around can hear
Besides if you’ve done no wrong what do you fear

Titter Tattered Tall Tales

Pass on the lore of yesteryear
Of the follies loved near and dear
Tales intriguing and sublime
Capturing men who did the crime

All the stories should ring the truth
Not so much as to require proof
If they seem too good to be true
They’ll lose their interest in you
