The phone rang at 4am (2)

“Joe it’s your wife again, you here?”
“You send your kid off to Marine boot camp at 17 because she signed the papers.”
“Let her stew; that’s what we’re going to be doing.”

This is the http://www.trifectawritingchallenge.com weekend challenge.
This week, you’re all starting with the same 5 words and your task is to turn it in to your own story in only 33 words. The 5 we have given you are NOT to be counted in the 33 words

  2. interesting write.. made me think of a friend that joined the army at 18 so he could afford to go to college, he didn’t mind joining but his parents also pushed him into it..

    • This guy was in the military and spent time in combat zones; also went in at 17. Hated it, had friends die around him and didn’t want his son to lose his life or be apart of others dying. The kid had mom wrapped and got her signature. This was during the Viet Nam fiasco. The son survived but has to live with his own hellish memories.

  8. Sometimes parenting partnerships work so well, other times, not at all. Interesting how I get the bitterness from the length of the sentences.
